New Handbook Asylum
The SRC has published the updated and expanded version of the Manual on Asylum Procedure. It integrates all the legal revisions and changes made by the Swiss Parliament between 2012 and autumn 2015. The new Handbook Asylum is available in German and can be ordered via online form from our website as of now. A french issue will be published in February 2016.
New Secretary General Miriam Behrens
The executive board of the Swiss Refugee Council has elected Miriam Behrens as new Secretary General of the Swiss Refugee Council SRC. She will start her new job on 01 March 2016. Miriam Behrens has been Secretary General of the Grüne Partei Schweiz for the last five years, where she was inter alia involved with the issues of migration and asylum policy. Before, she has worked for Pro Natura as project manager Politics and International.
Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something
On 24 November 2015, the Swiss Refugee Council met with the United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Jan Eliasson, a Swedish national with a wide range of experiences in humanitarian and refugee work. The meeting served as a discussion on current challenges in the asylum and migration discussion.
AIDA Country Report: Switzerland
In October 2015, the Swiss Refugee Council (SRC) presented the updated AIDA Country Report on Switzerland, written by the legal unit of the SRC. It discusses the new rules for administrative detention of asylum seekers in the Dublin procedure, which entered into force in July 2015. The report also provides information on the rules for support of unaccompanied minors as well as the restructuring of the asylum system.
Pour des standards minimums dans l’accueil des enfants migrants en Suisse
Le mercredi 4 novembre 2015, l’Alliance pour les droits des enfants migrants en Suisse (ADEM) a organisé un colloque afin de définir les besoins et contraintes en vue d’établir des standards minimums dans l’accueil des Mineur-e-s non accompagné-e-s.
